Today was my first “entire day” alone with Elias. I’m on vacation, and Nikki used all hers when Elias was born, (I took a week then too, but this week is mandatory where I work) so I’m on vacation alone. It’s not my first time taking care of Elias alone by any stretch of the imagination, it’s just the first full day with Nikki at work.
We started our morning with a baby bird being brought in by one of the cats… No pictures (sorry) but it was awkward, and maybe cute? Nikki found it before she left, and left it in a box for me to “take care of”. Well even I wasn’t heartless enough to “take care” of it, so I was thinking I’d call the local pet shop to ask them for ideas. After feeding Elias I called Nikki (she needs to know when to pump) and she mentioned Kerry offered to take the bird. So I loaded Elias, myself, AND the bird into the car, and off to VOS we went. Kerry, Nikki and Cindy greeted me at the door looking for Elias. I had left him ~3′ behind me in his car seat in the hall……. When the girls asked “where’s Elias?” I calmly replied “in the car?” Nikki just about killed me before I could tell her he was right there behind me.
After that, we swung by starbucks on the way home then off for a long walk on the beach. It was nice and breezy (enough so it would have been a great day for sailing) and about 85ยบ. We went the full length of the beach to find about 40 people clamming at the entrance to Alan’s harbor. It was also very low tide and a small sailboat had run aground as well. Elias and I then went around the corner and took some panoramic pictures (well, check the shots of Elias, he was out cold).
After that we came home and I fed Elias his second bottle without much drama. A few more diaper changes, a half an hour of tummy time, a half an hour in his bouncer, then a nap in the swing and Nikki was home! It’s not hard work taking care of Elias all day, it’s actually a lot of fun, provided you don’t put too many other plans on your time. ๐
This was actually Wednesday night, but we did the same walk both days now:
You guys got the BOB stroller! I’m so jealous!
Elias is getting so big! Stop growing so fast Elias! He’s super cute!
The harbor is gorgeous. I’m craving some water scenes. *sigh*
